International and UK trade shows offer significant opportunities for Midlands’ manufacturers

MecWash Systems is gearing up for Aero Engineering at the NEC in November, following its recent attendance at one of the largest manufacturing trade shows in the world - IMTS (the International Manufacturing Technology Show) which took place in Chicago earlier this month.

Established in 1993, MecWash has experienced significant growth in export markets - leading to the decision to exhibit at IMTS for the first time in 2012. The independently owned company shipped a bespoke Duo system, specifically designed for the US market, out to McCormick Place to demonstrate MecWash’s capabilities.

MecWash Managing Director, John Pattison, says, “IMTS provided an excellent opportunity to meet representatives from leading global manufacturers.  This year’s show was bigger than ever before – organisers reported a 21.6% increase in registration on the 2010 show and expected more than 100,000 visitors to attend over the five days.”

The encouraging IMTS attendance and exhibitor figures are mirrored by MecWash’s experience of the manufacturing sector - despite the challenging global economy, MecWash’s annual turn-over has risen steadily year on year, largely due to increased export sales.

Pattison continues, “The bespoke nature of our products means trade shows are an excellent way of meeting potential customers face to face to explain the benefits of a MecWash system in person. We met with more than 100 prospective clients at IMTS and are looking forward to an equally successful experience at Aero Engineering.”

The Aero Engineering sector presents significant opportunities for growth for MecWash - existing clients include Rolls-Royce, Goodrich Actuation Division, SPS Technologies, Selex (part of Finmeccanica), BAe, Eaton Aerospace and Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems.

MecWash will be demonstrating an AVD 300 parts washer at Aero Engineering - a compact version of the proven Midi and Maxi systems specifically developed for aerospace, defence, medical and other precision industries where the manufacture of complex and intricate machined or pressed parts require very high standards of cleaning, surface finish and drying.

The AVD removes all types of contamination including soluble and mineral oils or greases, polishing compounds, lapping pastes and NDT dye penetrants from sensitive alloys and other materials. Pattison, says, “This year will be the second time we’ve exhibited at the Advanced Engineering show – we’re looking forward to seeing so many engineering businesses under one roof. Shows such as Advanced Engineering at the NEC offer a perfect opportunity to promote the UK’s manufacturing and engineering sectors on home soil.”

MecWash systems are used by customers throughout Europe as well as Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Thailand and the USA, but the UK remains a buoyant proposition for the expanding company.

Pattison says, “The UK’s manufacturing expertise is recognised across the globe – MecWash’s reputation for delivering quality products and services, backed up by testimonies from many of our high-profile clients, is helping us grow our export sales, but UK engineering remains a vital market.”

MecWash can be found on stand 602 at Aero Engineering taking place at the NEC on 7th and 8th November.
