PRECISION PARTS WASHING SOLUTIONS PROVEN IN INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS AROUND THE WORLD

SUPERMAXI

APPLICATION

A longstanding client, a leading manufacturer in the aerospace industry, had a tough precision cleaning requirement for turbine bearing housings. The components were large and complex, with internal galleries and long tubes, yet they demanded a very high standard of cleanliness. We devised a large scale system to deliver standards normally only found in much smaller scale specialist machines. The challenge in this particular application was to adequately flush out the numerous internal galleries, channels and tubes.

SOLUTION

The solution was for MecWash to design and building its largest industrial parts washer to date, the ‘SuperMaxi’, based on existing processes but scaled up to handle the large component size.

C4 CARBIDES STRIPWASH

APPLICATION

Cambridge-based power tool accessory and industrial band saw blade manufacturer C4 Carbides Ltd needed to extend its cleaning regime to meet the demands of rapidly increasing production. C4 Carbides’ products comprise a metal substrate that demands an extremely clean surface prior to applying the tungsten carbide or diamond abrasive coating. Any oil or dirt residue remaining from the production process has the potential to significantly impact the quality of the product.

SOLUTION

The complexity came as the parts are made from a continuous strip of fast moving steel, and the wash system had to fit into this line process and deliver a high quality wash, rinse and dry to the parts prior to the ultimate coating process. The solution was MecWash designing and building two innovative custom strip wash aqueous parts washing systems.

BLADEWASH

APPLICATION

A major aerospace manufacturer had a very tough challenge. High pressure turbine blades are made of nickel based super alloys and the casting media used in the manufacturing process must be completely removed before the blades are used in an engine assembly. The problem was how to clean the cooling channels built into high pressure turbine blades. These fine passageways can be easily blocked with casting debris or other contamination which causes highly expensive failures.

SOLUTION

MecWash worked closely with the customer over two years, first to design a process, then build and test a prototype, then undertake volume trials for the customer to formally sign off the new cleaning process. The unique BladeWash system relies on a massive volume of wash solution focussed on the critical apertures flushing away the contamination.

PIPE WASHER

APPLICATION

A blue chip engineering company was setting up a new engine plant in India and needed a system to meet a particular cleanliness issue. While MecWash already made systems to clean heads and cranks for the customer, the area for attention was the long oil and fuel lines which surrounded the large industrial engines.

SOLUTION

The challenge for MecWash was to design a washing system able to cope with cleaning a wide range of pipes, with internal diameters ranging from 6mm to 22mm and different lengths (up to 2m long) and convoluted shapes. The pipe washing system designed had a highly versatile capability to lock onto the ends of pipes so they could be flushed through and then dried within a short timeframe.
