Harrison Silverdale boosts productivity with MecWash Duo

MecWash Systems installed a Duo 400 parts washing system at leading fastener specialists, Harrison Silverdale Ltd, adding a brand-new cleaning facility following sizable investment in machinery.

Harrison Silverdale has serviced the manufacturing industry since 1982 with high quality, engineered fastening solutions. After purchasing a new Star Micronics machine, Harrison Silverdale contacted MecWash to scale its cleaning capacity in order to keep up with growing demand for its custom designed fasteners.

Mark Harrison, managing director of Harrison Silverdale, comments:

“Our core products are fasteners for plastic and sheet metal. We supply to over 37 counties with an average of 10 million parts per month dispatched from our warehouse in Dronfield.

“One of the things that sets Harrison Silverdale apart from other distributors is the fact that we have a design service where we develop special parts for customers applications. We have three qualified CAD engineers and rapid prototyping facilities on site which include 3D printing and 5-axis machining. These specialist parts are covered by ISO 9001:2015.

“Manufacturing these bespoke fixtures requires absolute accuracy, so they must be cleaned to a high standard. MecWash has a reputation for delivering extremely detailed component cleaning, so I contacted Alan to discuss our requirements,” said Mark.

Known for long-standing relationships with leading manufacturers, MecWash builds bespoke parts washing systems at its factory in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.

Alan Atkinson, sales manager at MecWash, worked alongside the Harrison Silverdale team to plan and commission the installation at their newly built factory extension in Dronfield, Derbyshire.:

“Mark, his son Max and I spoke at length to understand the requirements for the application and the contamination. It was proven through trials that  the MecWash Duo 400 would be the perfect fit for the quantity of components and cleanliness requirements.

“The Duo is a general parts washing system, providing first class cleaning with detailed wash, rinse and drying. It is an exceptionally versatile aqueous cleaning system, suitable for dense baskets of various small turned parts which is the chief requirement at Harrison Silverdale.

“With a 400 x 450 x 600mm (w-h-l) wash chamber and a 100kg maximum load capacity, the Duo 400 allows customers to clean large volumes of components efficiently. Its combination of powerful flood and spray washing, spray rinsing and hot air drying has helped Harrison Silverdale serve its customers more efficiently,” said Alan.

Mark Harrison continues: “The MecWash Duo 400 has enabled us to fulfil the growing demand from our customers. We work with leading OEM’s and distributors across Europe, USA and Australasia therefore the speed of service is a critical part of our offering.

“The support of the MecWash team throughout the process has been first class and the detail of the approach taken,” said Mark.

John Pattison, managing director at MecWash, is pleased with the impact of the Duo 400:

“The unique parts created by Harrison Silverdale require delicate yet thorough cleaning which the Duo excels in. It is a very popular system due to its versatility and is used across the sectors, including precision engineering where we have established a reputation with leading manufacturers.

“A MecWash customer is a customer for life. Designing and building the highest standard of component washing systems is just the initial part of the customer experience. The ‘MecWash Approach’ is based upon providing the customer with long-term support for the system’s entire lifecycle.

“We have over 30 years of experience in optimising cleaning processes for our customers. This gives us great confidence when addressing any application, as we understand the small details of component cleaning which make all the difference for manufacturers,” said John.
