MecWash Mini provides quality and performance for Davturn

MecWash Systems first met Davturn Turned Parts Ltd at MACH Exhibition, back in 2014. Davturn was looking to find a more efficient and operator-friendly component washing system to boost productivity. This lead Davturn to purchase a MecWash Mini, a fully refurbished machine originally built in 1997. MecWash has supported Davturn ever since.

Davturn is a family-owned company based in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, specialising in providing superior machined parts to manufacturing sectors, including aerospace, defence, medical and motorsport.

Paul Jarratt, MecWash sales manager, comments: “The team at Davturn required a simple and efficient washing system that could reliably remove swarf and oil from parts machined on sliding head lathes, leaving the components clean and dry.

“For any machine to operate at optimal efficiency, its machined components need to be reliably cleaned to the highest standard with no room for error. Here, at MecWash, we manufacture precision cleaning systems that effectively remove oils, coolants, metal chips and debris from even the most intricate machined components. Our systems are fully enclosed, which ensures no steam or vapours are released, and includes water recycling to reduce environmental impact.

The MecWash Mini provided Davturn with the perfect solution to meet their requirements.

“The MecWash Mini is an ideal solution for the particular application at Davturn. This system is an inter-stage parts washer that features rotational washing, mist rinsing and hot air drying with a compact footprint.

“MecWash refurbished parts washers are sold having undergone a comprehensive service and refurbishment programme by our Engineers. Refurbished systems offer the perfect solution for sites that require a robust and high specification machine at a more affordable price,” said Paul.

Having seen demonstrations of various aqueous washing machines, Mathew Birley, director at Davturn, knew that Mecwash offered the perfect solution to meet their strict requirements.

Mathew comments: “At Davturn, we serve a wide range of industries and produce a variety of parts such as hydraulic fittings, fuel injection systems and even medical components like orthopaedic implants, prosthetics and bone screws. Precision cleaning is a vital part of the process. We have invested heavily in machine tools to manufacture these parts, and felt it was just as important in cleaning them to the same high standards.

“Many of the precision components we produce, have deep holes and require a high surface finish. The Mecwash system gives us the confidence that our precision parts are genuinely clean and in perfect condition for our customers. Before the MecWash system, we used a vapour degreaser which was not particularly versatile.

“The Mini is equipped with pressure washing, spraying, rinsing, hot air dry and other unique capabilities necessary to provide the most complete cleaning of precision turned parts. It guarantees high-quality cleaning and degreasing for all types of components and ensures that all parts receive a deep comprehensive cleaning ready for use.

“The systems made by MecWash are renowned in the industry for their superior quality and long lifespans. Any down time in production due to equipment failure has a significant impact on any facility, but in smaller operations it can make or break a company.

“As a small business, we need to make sure that we’re always investing in quality machinery that will last. It is not cost effective to buy inferior quality equipment because as well as not operating as efficiently as higher end alternatives, it also needs replacing far sooner.

“We have had our Mecwash for 10 years and it still performs like a new machine which is testament to its build quality and reliability. When the day comes, and we need to upgrade our machine it will certainly be with another Mecwash!” said Mathew.

John Pattison, managing director at MecWash, comments: “We are pleased with the positive impact of the Mini at Davturn. Davturn supply industries which are rigorously regulated so we recognise the component cleaning needs to be of the highest standard.

“After nearly three decades of successfully cleaning components, the MecWash Mini demonstrates the build quality of the systems made by MecWash.

“We serve a wide range of manufacturers in different sectors. Our customers appreciate the detail of the support and servicing which complements the original robust build and drives the longevity of MecWash parts washing systems,” said John.
