Investment in new MecWash machine for Fylde CNC

Sub-contract precision CNC machining company, Fylde CNC Specialists Ltd, has invested in a second MecWash parts washing system following more than ten years’ successful service from its first MecWash machine.

The Preston based company initially purchased a MecWash Mini 300 in the 1990s to ensure the parts it manufactured met the high standards of cleanliness demanded by customers in the aerospace, automotive, medical and industrial sectors.

Over a decade of service later, and as part of Fylde’s programme of continual investment, the decision was taken to upgrade the wash system to ensure it could service the volume of parts made by the leading advanced manufacturer.

The company opted for a MecWash Duo 400 to replace the Mini to make sure it had the capability to clean larger volumes at the same continuously high standard.

Fylde’s Managing Director, David Norcross elaborates, “Our policy is to continuously invest in the future so Fylde CNC stays one step ahead of the competition by providing the best quality precision engineered components.

“When the decision was taken to replace the MecWash Mini, it was a foregone conclusion that we would invest in another MecWash machine rather than trialling any other systems. The Mini has served us extremely well over the past ten years so we were confident that investing in a larger Duo machine  would stand us in good stead as we continue to grow our business.”

Fylde CNC has a deserved reputation for manufacturing high quality components for some of the world’s leading premium, luxury and performance automotive brands. The company is trusted by customers to manufacture precise and repeatable products to the highest industry standards, and this includes the cleaning and drying process.

Providing all of the functionality of the Mini, the Duo offers features including flood / immersion washing which ensures full solution contact with all component surfaces, and a re-circulating heated spray rinse, which provides higher standards of surface finish by removing detergent residues left by the wash solution.

The rinse stage can also be used to apply a longer term corrosion inhibitor for ferrous components and a hot air dry means all parts are finished to the high standards demanded by world leading brands.

The MecWash Duo was purchased at the recent Northern Manufacturing Show which Fylde attended with the sole purpose of visiting MecWash to discuss its latest requirements.

MecWash Managing Director, John Pattison, comments, “We regularly receive orders from existing customers who, having experienced the levels of cleanliness delivered by our wash systems, are more than happy to place repeat orders when circumstances necessitate the need for new equipment. Whether this is through opening additional production facilities around the world, or simply because their existing system needs updating.

“Our customers recognise the long-term benefits of investing in quality equipment which is built to last, rather than trying to cut corners by purchasing cheaper systems which turn out to provide an inferior service.”

Fylde has recently invested £1.2 million in new, larger premises, new CNC machining centres and metrology equipment.

Quality throughout all aspects of the business is imperative for Fylde – the Duo completely removes all traces of residue accumulated during the manufacturing process so Fylde’s customers can be confident that their components are of the highest quality possible.

David concludes, “We are extremely proud to be recognised as a shining example of a modern UK advanced manufacturer. We invest in the best equipment available to ensure we offer customers the highest quality products - this approach has resulted in continued growth year on year and we have ambitious plans for the future.”
