MecWash is actively targeting additional business in the USA with a number of strategic initiatives.
Export trade accounts for a substantial percentage of MecWash’s sales and the independently owned company is targeting growth in a number of territories where its products are already in use, including both established and emerging markets.
MecWash’s Managing Director, John Pattison, says, “Our component cleaning systems are used in a number of manufacturing sectors including automotive, aerospace, hydraulics and medical. We have been fortunate to have been introduced to numerous new markets via our existing clients, thanks to the trust they have in our machines. When businesses expand internationally, using equipment they are familiar with takes away some of the risks associated with setting up production plants in new countries.”
In the 20 years since the company first began, MecWash has established a deserved reputation for producing aqueous component cleaning systems that benefit from a number of customisable features to offer customers a superior quality of cleanliness and drying, tailored around their specific requirements.
Targeting growth in the United States was a logical decision for MecWash - its machines are now in use by a mix of high-profile global manufacturers and domestic operators including Husco, UTM and Bernzomatic. John continues, “Despite its recent economic issues, America has huge potential for MecWash. We have recently delivered an AVD 300 to Kinemotive’s production facility in Michigan and have taken a couple of orders already this year.”
MecWash is represented by Bill Westbrook in the USA. Bill is based in Ohio, well positioned to service the Midwest and northern East Coast. This dedicated resource has already helped to make significant inroads into raising awareness of the MecWash brand amongst North America’s manufacturing community.
Bill comments, “Our attendance at last year’s IMTS, one of the largest manufacturing trade shows in the world, was designed to introduce American manufacturers to both the MecWash brand and the capabilities of its products. The show was a great success – we were really encouraged by both the volume and calibre of visitors and the level of enquiries we received.”
MecWash’s component cleaning machines are built at the company’s headquarters in Tewkesbury and then shipped around the world. “Purchasing an aqueous component cleaning system is a long-term investment,” says John Pattison. “Customers need to be sure the machine will deliver the required level of cleanliness. Our reputation amongst UK based manufacturers is already reaping rewards in the US and we’re confident this trend will continue. Investing in quality wash equipment is more important than ever in times of economic down-turn – quality of cleanliness is a real competitive advantage.”
Following the success of last year’s IMTS show in Chicago, MecWash will be exhibiting at the Precision Machining Technology Show (PMTS) in Columbus in mid-April, followed by EASTEC, taking place in West Springfield, Massachusetts from 14th-16th May.
PMTS includes a dedicated ‘Parts Cleaning Conference’ which will feature seminars and workshops on a number of issues including degreasing, aqueous ultra sonic and spray cleaning and precision cleaning.
