Time savings warrant washing machine at Warren Services

Norfolk based component manufacturer, Warren Services, has significantly reduced the time taken to clean precision CNC milled and turned components thanks to the installation of an aqueous cleaning system from MecWash.

The independently owned company installed a MecWash Duo at its production facilities in Thetford as part of a strategic effort to reduce the time that operators spend on processes through the introduction of bespoke mechanical equipment.

Cleaning of all manufactured components was previously carried out by hand – a time-consuming and laborious task as Warren Service’s Managing Director, Will Bridgman, testifies, “When we established our company in 1990 cleaning components by hand was the only way of achieving the level of cleanliness needed by our customer. This was fine when we started out, but as our business has grown, it became clear that we needed to find a way of freeing up the CNC operators to complete other duties. Our customers compete in global markets and to ensure that we can support them we need to invest in machines like the MecWash.”

Significant improvements in cleaning technologies in recent years have meant that an aqueous machine could provide the solution Warren Services needed. The company approached MecWash to provide a suitable system to meet their requirements, and following testing in MecWash’s research facility in Tewkesbury, commissioned a Duo because of its proven cleaning standards.

MecWash Managing Director, John Pattison, says, “The Duo’s wash cycle includes flood washing which fully immerses the components in cleaning solution followed by a powerful spray wash - ensuring all surfaces are as clean as possible. A spray rinse removes all detergent residues left by the wash solution and the final hot air dry means the whole component cleaning process takes place considerably faster than cleaning by hand.”

Warren Services is already benefitting from the introduction of the Duo – washing time has  been reduced by 75%, resulting in improved turn-around time for its customers products, and making a significant impact on the future growth of the business.

Mr Bridgman continues, “The MecWash Duo 400 plays an integral role in Warren Services precision Sliding Head Auto Lathe turning cell – it provides a fast, efficient service with an improved level of finish and with equal importance, frees up our CNC operators to concentrate on other priority tasks. Addressing our component cleaning, with our strategic investment of the Duo, has streamlined our service meaning we’re able to increase productivity and our bottom line.”
